Steven C. Shaykett, MAI, President

After receiving his BA in business from the University of South Dakota, Steve followed in the footsteps of his father and has now been in the appraisal business for over 30 years, starting his professional career in 1975 in Kansas City, Missouri. He spent 10 years appraising a variety of properties ranging from typical commercial properties to underground storage facilities for a wide range of local and national clients. In 1984, Steve established the Sioux Falls office and continues to serve national clients. He holds an MAI, the highest appraisal designation offered by the Appraisal Institute, since 1981. Steve serves at the chapter level on the board of directors. In addition to the Appraisal Institute, he is a member of the National Association of Realtors and the Professional Appraisers Association of South Dakota. He also served as a South Dakota State Appraiser Certification Board Member from 1989-2001. Over the last 30 years Steve has attended numerous classes, including specialized seminars in the valuation of low income housing, tax credit properties, Federal "Yellow Book" appraisal requirements and condemnation acquisitions training courses. He is qualified as an expert witness in State and Federal courts. Steve is licensed in South Dakota, Minnesota and Iowa.

Samuel J. Rieffenberger, State Certified General Appraiser

As an Associate Member of the Appraisal Institute, Sam has served clients with Shaykett Appraisal for over five years. He holds a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota and he has continued his education towards becoming an MAI designated appraiser. Sam has completed over 330 hours of educational instruction and examinations from the Appraisal Institute towards that designation and to acquire the highest recognized appraisal license offered by the State. He specializes in multi-family properties including low income housing programs, MAP Loans, and proposed construction,as well as market studies. He is a member of the Professional Appraisers Association of South Dakota. Sam is licensed in South Dakota, Nebraska and North Dakota.

Kyle Martin, State Registered Appraiser

Kyle possesses BAs in both Finance and Real Estate from the University of Northern Iowa. He has been affiliated with Shaykett Appraisal Company since 2004, first as a research assistant, then as a licensed appraiser. Kyle has attended over 250 hours of Appraisal Institute further education classes, including training in Market and Valuation Analysis. Kyle is an Associate member of the Appraisal Institute in addition to being part of the National Association of Realtors and the Professional Appraisers Association of South Dakota. He has specialized in general commercial properties and subdivision development appraisals. Kyle is licensed in South Dakota.

Scott Elwood, State Registered Appraiser

The newest appraiser in our company, Scott has a BS in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota. He has already attended over 75 hours of Appraisal Institute advanced coursework in appraisal principles, procedures and USPAP, since joining the team in 2007. Prior to than he was the manager of a national building supply business. He is licensed in South Dakota.

 

 

Christy Walsh, Administrative Assistant

Christy is the backbone of Shaykett Appraisal. In addition to providing administrative services and managing the office, she assists in the research and formatting of appraisal reports. She has been a member of our team since March of 2002, and has attended both the University of South Dakota and Dakota Wesleyan University.
